Posted 5/12/2008 - The American Institute of Architects has released a study of three green building rating systems (Green Globes, SBTool 07, and LEED NC 2.2). In late 2007, the initial results were shared with the three groups whose systems were reviewed. After receiving feedback, the study was further refined into the final report. The purpose of this exercise is to let both the industry and the public learn how three evolving green building rating systems resonate with the goals of the AIA position on sustainability. Posted 4/30/2008 - The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) has released the first draft of a revision to the 1998 version of UniFormat for public comment. The construction community is invited to comment on the draft. All comments received before June 15, 2008, will be considered by the UniFormat Task Team. UniFormat provides a uniform classification system for organizing construction information into a standard order. Because the functional element classifications provided by UniFormat are standardized, users can easily understand and compare project information across project types or options. The use of UniFormat can also provide consistent comparable data across an entire building life cycle. CSI plans to publish a revised version of UniFormat close to the end of 2008.

Posted 3/25/2008 - The Knoxville Chapter of the Construction Specification Institute will be hosting its 5th Annual CSI Golf Tournament Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Gettysvue Polo Golf and Country Club.
